Does this make sense to anyone?

I have an 03 SO, with an Edge EZ. This last couple of days the truck stumbles at highway speed, and at the same time the tachometer stops working. When the engine rights itself, most of the time the tach stops working altogether. But the tach starts working again within a few miles.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

How many miles? Are you monitoring the fuel pressure? The transfer pump may be getting weak. They have a history.

I've got an 03 HO, and the past few days I've noticed mine do the same thing, I was running about 60 mph and rolled into the throttle up to about 75 when the engine cut out, tach went to zero my immediate reaction was to put my foot all the way into my dead pedal and then it kicked back on and took off. It hasn't done that for a week, but I have noticed something else "not right", the only way that I know how to explain it is that it feels like I've got a bunch of water in my bed sloshing from front to back (freeway speeds), it kind of surges, when in third or fourth gear at about 2000 rpm's it is really jumpy. This has really begun to worry me, I've already started looking into a glacier/walbro lift pump system, I don't even know if it's the problem but it will give me some ease of mind, good luck finding your problem, I sure haven't gotten an answer for mine yet.

Thanks for the ideas. I have 110k on the truck, and I hadn't thought about the lift pump. I was wondering if it might be the crank position sensor. Thanks again.

You know, if I was any dumber, I'd be dangerous. After reading so much in this forum, I didn't even think to check the codes. Yes, it threw a P0335.

I guess it's the crank position sensor.

Thanks!

P0335 is a code for a Crank Position Sensor Malfunction (CPS).

Funny thing happened when my CPS went bad. I had codes P0628, P0469 and P0633 which I have no idea what they are for.

The dealer somehow determined that they were all related to CPS going bad. I guess the dealer has a secret code book.
