03 transfer pump

on my way to daytona my transfer pump took a ****. so i bought a holly fuel pump at autozone back feed it through the drain valve. made it there and back (2000 miles) i here the only fix is to put the pump in the tank if so any problems w/tank unit ?

The pump in the tank is much more reliable because it is kept much cooler. I still have the stock transfer pump on my truck, and when it goes out, I will either take to it dealer (if it's still under warranty) and they automatically install the in-tank pump, OR I will go for the FASS (if after warranty).

Basically as NBeebe points out, your 2 options are the in-tank retrofit from Dodge or a custom system.

Personally, I think you're better off with a custom system that puts the pump outside the tank for easy service if it should fail.

How did you know that the pump went out? When the engine died/didnt start? what made you think it was the transfer pump? I was thinking about buying a spare just in case! My engine might be on warrentry but not in the middle of no where. I think the pumps are the same as the late sec gen engines? Anyone know?

No, 2003-up pumps are totally different than the 2nd gen pumps.

2x what Ryan said about a custom system. I just installed the glacier diesel power on my truck and I'm quite pleased with it. There are a number of systems available so do ur homework and good luck with what ever you choose.

I second the "Glacier Diesel Power" system, straight forward and fairly simple to install.

it started to stumble then loss off power i changed the f/f the same. opened the the filter back up and the bowl was dry did a little checken and pump was not pumpen

The engine mounted pump is still available from cummins , have been carrying a new spare for 90,0000 waiting for mine to fail so far works great, tst on 3x3 full time never misses a beat.
