I have noticed of late as my transmission goes into OD, a "rattle" for lack of a better term and slight vibration. Not sure what to think of it. Any thoughts? I am the second owner of the truck, had it since Jan this year. The truck has 97K on it, 3.73 gears. PO meticulisly maintained the truck. It has a deep pan, temp gauge, and always regular maint/and oil changes. If I remember right, he changed the fluid every year just because. The temp runs about 140-160 on a hot day, and not a whole bunch more if I have something on behind. SHould I be concerned? This is the one thing that scares me about the truck.....wishing I would have held out for a stick. I cannot decide if it is Torque converter making noise or nothing to worry about.

Thanks in advance

Larry

Not sure if this helps but I have the same issue. I am also the second owner of this truck, and the PO meticulously maintained as well as upgraded the truck. At 60k he had the trans reworked, larger input shaft, clutches, and valve body, he also changed the Torque Converter. The truck now has 95k on it and I experience a slight rattle followed by vibration when entering and accelerating in overdrive. I recently talked to the PO as well as the shop in Camarillo, CA that performed the trans upgrade. Both PO and Shop owner agreed it was simply the torque increase caused by other upgrades. I have the EV gauges from ISSPRO and usually stay in the 140 to 160 range as well, however recently I had a problem with the sending unit and amplifier so I had to replace that, but no other problems.

If the TC is done correctly there is no vibration or rattle going into OD or lockup. Even 1/2 again as much TQ there should be no noises or vibrations.

The first thing to figure out is if it is OD or lockup in OD whne the problems occur. Typically, vibration and noise when the TC locks under power is a slipping TC clutch. These thing shsould be smooth so rattles and vibrations are a concern.

it is more of a "clank" sound, but reminds me of a metal noise. not sure what the bark" is your talking about. If i am on the loud pedal hard, I don't notice it as much as I do when just tooling up the road. Doesn't seem to slip when towing, etc etc
