03 Truck Running out of fuel

I would run it out of fuel, then add a couple of gallons to get you to where you can pull the pump. Then you will know how much fuel should be in the tank, either a couple of gallons you just added, or about a 1/4 tank. If it is a couple of gallons you know the sending unit is bad or bent, if 1/4 tank you are going to find a bunch of crap in the pump housing plugging the inlet just as you suspected.
