04 1/2 Turbo On A 02??

What is the turbo on a 04 1/2. Is it the hy35? Is it and better than the earlier hy 35. Boost on the o4 goes to 30+ ## which made me wonder about its strength. The 04 1/2 has a 4" elbow off of it which made me wonder if it would be possible to mount one on a mildly bombed 02.

add the 4. 5 Turbo is stupid expensive... like $2200 from the Dodge parts dept

Compare that to the $650 for an 03 model

PDR 35 is a much better option for a mildly bomb'ed truck.

Is the 04 1/2 a hy?? and my initial thought was if there was a benifit using the 04 1/2 with the 4" ELBOW. Lower egts??

Yes, HY35. Keep in mind you're squeezing all that exhaust through a 9 cm^2 exhaust housing before you get to the elbow. 9 cm^2. That is equivalent to a 1. 3 inch diameter pipe, will it make much diffrence to step up from 3. 5 to 4 inch? Probably not. The slightly larger compressor wheel in the 04. 5 turbo will help more than anything but if I were going through the effort I'd just buy a bigger turbo. My $. 02
