04 2500 questions

I am in the process of buying a 04 2500 4x4 QC 48re transmission. Just curious what kind of issues ,if any,I need to be aware of on these trucks. I will be using it for heavy hauling. Thanks for your time

IS it a HO or SO (diff program) also is it an early 04 or a late 04. 5. There was a transmission update, something to do with added thrush washer i think.



I think the Turbo is a little better in 04. 5. (slightly bigger and the PSI could be raised more with the 04. 5 and still be efficient)



With the exhaust went from 3. 5 down pipe to 4" DP as well.



Im sure there were other improvments and someone should chime in. I had a couple othe rproblems with my 04. 5 but i dont think they were specific to that year model.

The engine mounted lift pump will die in short order if it hasn't been moved in tank yet.

I have a 2004 and love it. The truck has 98,000 trouble free miles, with original lift pump. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
