I keep hearing/reading that older boxes will work, anyone have a firm grasp on when a specific box will be out?

I'm willing to be a test mule :D

TST says their box will work on the 4. 5.

I dont know of anyone else, Edge boxes are a no go right now.

The electronic wastegate thingy is an extra challenge for the box makers right now.

Next question, what will the clutch hold up to? I'd imagine that with a 150hp shot in the arm that the stock clutch would go bye bye pretty quick.

2004.5 boxes

TX Gooseneck,

Take a look at DLeno's box chart. He has the applications, powers, torques, and makers links on it.

The VA Duration box has been released. It provides 110 or so HP for the 600 and 138HP for the 305. $5xx

The VA pressure box also works for the 600. If memory serves, it's 65-70 HP. $399

Also, I have heard the Ramifier works on 600's. Plenty of info posted on that around here. I think it's $525 or so.

Take a look at the chart so you understand the differences in pressure / duration / and timing boxes. Some are far harder on the engine, and effect EGT's far more.

Big_Daddy

Those are the numbers. I have the dyno from the 305, and I will be doing it to my 600 in May (at the TDR gathering). But the 600 has already been dynoed, and it was between 108-115.

All in all the two will be equal when all is said and done (horsepower wise).

I think once they add the timing the 600 will be higher.

here is the chart. It needs to be updated and I need guys to tell me what works and what doesn't. For example I think the VA pressure box will work on both the 600 and the 305 (without programming changes) Same for the duration box -- but I dont' want to publish that until verfied.

I have decided not to even publish mfg claims, taking the position that If I'm going to publish numbers, they will come from dyno runs.

I encourage everyone to read and give me feedback. My goals are to cut through the hype and give a straight a story as possible. you'll see that I've developed a way to rate these boxes -- read the text (there is link on the matrix page) and let me know what you think.

Better & Better

DLeno,

You just keep making that chart better and better.

Thanks for all the hard work. Maybe you should make a link to the dynos you do have.

thought about that, but decided it would be too much hassle. the dyno runs are in all different formats -- some paper, some data that comes to life when you run specialized software, some gifs, you get the picture. So whatever dyno runs I can get for any box, I'll interpret according to the text in my summary and update the chart.

no confirmation here, but I'm hearing as high as the 850 ft lbs. region. Clutches dont' care how fast they turn (HP) , they just care how hard (torque). My 02 was a real wimp -- I could make it slip with just an EZ. . But I'm hearing that the 3rd gens have more margin in them.

Pics

DLeno,

Get some pics in that readers rig (pot calling the kettle black here).

Would be nice to have a uniform dyno chart, so they could be overlayed. Say in Excel, send some points and I will get them in.

I'd love to have a box that would allow you to run an empty setting which would increase HP and keep tq gains a little at bay. Not sure if this even fits in the dynamic of a bombed diesel though. .
