Question about my limited slip differential

I have a 04. 5 325/600 bought in mar. 04. I have the symptoms of needing the reflash (white smoke at cold start, console milage lower than calculated etc. ) but i have a banks six-gun tuner with speed loader installed. Will the banks equipment need to be removed for the reflash and will the dealer give me a hard time about even doing the job?



About once a month the engine throws a crank sensor code(dont remember the number off the top of my head). The engine coughs right when the code generates but then runs just fine any ideas? Any help you can give an ignorant newbee would be appreciated!
 
Regarding removing the Banks, it depends on the dealer... . On this subject it would be helpful if you read KOOPDADDY's "Dealer Voided my enitire warranty" thread.
 
I called banks about the reflash and they encouraged it, said that the six gun would work fine with it. I have had good results with the reflash and the six gun.

Regarding the dealer, I called and talked with the service manager about the box being on the pickup before I brought it in, I stated that I have a banks fuel box on and that I didn't want any problems arising from the visit, and that I would not bring the truck in if they were going to make a fuss, or report the six gun in any way. The manager said that the box did not concern them (unless I wanted them to help me with drivability issues in that case i would have to remove the box if I wanted there help) and that they don't make any refernence to fuel boxes in any paper work. I have seen a 1-2 mpg increase in milage but still have white smoke occanally on startup.

They key is to deal with people you trust and have a understanding with.

man i got my 600 reflashes and i left my six gun off and told them at lithia to unhook it and plug in the reroute type plug that comes with the kit. they told me my warranty was voided and they tried to argue about the reflash telling me that i need to report symptoms that fit the reflash parameters. I told the guy what does it matter if i'm paying for it. Then they told me i would just throw the code again i was trying to get rid of. I said then that's my problem. They argued and whined like little girls and i left there but before i did i took the tape recorder from my pocket right in front of them and said that is on tape ladies and gentleman. should of seen the look on their faces. priceless. Then i went home printed up the owners manual from the cd with the code and what to do to fix it. p0602 i guess a lot of boxes throw them but i wanted to get rid of it and program my tires. The first thing in the manual says reprogram ecm. I printed it out. while waiting i called the general manager at lithia and said wtf i can't get a reflash even though i'm paying for it. What's up with that i told him i had the six gun and kept it on to be up front and honest. I said i'm not trying to get over on you guys or anything no wonder people take their stuff off before they come in with service like this who wouldn't. The head tech called me back within 30 min and said i could come back in and get it. I had a 9:00 am appointment it's now 1:00, i took off all day in the hopes to get it done and now i'm getting jerked around. I went back there anyhow and took the printed material from their manual and this is exactly what i said while throwing down the papers on their desk swear to god "this is what your manual says to do if this happens, i suggest you learn it" and walked out. lol the guy followed me out and sucked up a bit, he's a good guy i dealt with him on the hemi a few times. I told the head tech sorry if i offended him and he was ****** i could tell. However by the end of the reflash he seemed ok and we bs'd a bit. It's funny listening to the tape now because i didn't realize i was being such a prick until listening to it again
 
thanks for the info guys. It looks like the dealers not the Germans are making all the decisions regarding warranty violations. Seems silly shouldn't we all have to play by the same rules?



The code my 325/600 w/banks six-gun is throwing is po336 crank sensor out of range anyone else get this code?
 
I have had it twice, during heavy acceleration in cold climates while the engine is still not completely warmed up (140-150f) I just cleared them and have not had one in months. Let me know if you call banks about it, I would like to know what they have to say.
 
yeah i have had it several times i even bought a new sensor just to have on hand. I didn't throw it though until i stacked it with the xcellerator and ran it at max on both devices at the same time i threw another one too p0602 and i can clear off the both of them but then the 0602 comes right back. I was a bit nervous the first time i saw that crankshaft message but i just don't max the six gun now and it hasn't been back in months
 
My truck throws p0336 almost always right after startup, and when at idle or light throttle. It does happen with the sixgun on 5 but then again my sixgun is always on 5 or 6... damn truck is no fun anymore if its not on at least five!!
