Turbo whistle and chrome tip idea

Very slow acceleration until 2000 rpm then zoom, is this normal?

Picked up an Edge EZ for the 600 today at the local injection shop. Price was only $484. 00 Not bad

Power levels are - 25/50 - 45/77 - 65/150 hp/tq

Level 1 there is some good pick up but not really impressive.

Level 2 - haven't tried

Level 3 there is very good power and good pick up at highway speeds.

Got the exhuast 4" straighted out today also. alittle to loud. Seems louder than my 01. The Nelson muffler is coming next week.

EGT gauge goes in later next week. Going to get the replacement stock pillar like on the SRT V10 with the pod built in the pillar.

Towing a 14,000 lb load (trailer and load) in the morning. Let yall know what think. Power level will stay in Level 1 until gauges get put in.

later

I also bought the SRT pillar and am very happy with the stock look and fit. I run a pyro in it. This guage is a must. I feel very secure pulling up grade and racing off line with this guage. You'll be surprised how hot you can get when punching it to the floor.

Don't tow with it untill you get an EGT gauge. I can get mine up to and above 1300 easily going up a 5-8% grade towing a 7K trailer @ 65-70mph with the EZ on level two. At WOT up a grade it is easy to ease it into the 1400+ range at level 2. I would not even think of towing in level three.

i want to get the box but keep thinking ill be needing gauges before long and i don't feel like throwing out all this money already.

Edge EZ for the 600

I am about ready to install a electronic fueling box on my truck. I am not looking for the most powerful box. I want something that will give me some usable torque and good fuel milage. The Edge is what I may end up with. How does this box affect the transmission shifting? Any advise is welcome.

I have a question, and don't mean to be a smart a$$ at all. Assuming no changes to the exhaust system, intake system, or turbo, what would be the reason for installing a box like this if you can't use it when towing in the mountains? That's when I need the power, not driving around town empty. It sounds like the limiting factor for power is EGT control, and the stock 600 already operates dangerously close to max EGT.

Ken, I don't know that this is the answer for most, but the EZ on my 01 gave me some extra fueling from 1500 to about 2000 rpms for some extra "zing" when driving around empty. If I get one for my 600, it would be for the same reason. A little more "fun" factor when tooling around empty. Just my . 02

klenger:

You can tow in the mountains with them. You just need to use extra caution with heavy loads, and back out of it or shift down if your EGTS get too high. I cant really speak in regards to affects on the transmission - my assumption is that your transmission isnt going to be affected any more with the box unless you continuously drop the hammer and induce higher shock loads to the transmission.

With what little I know there is not any single power upgrade for the 600 that can withstand pulling around a heavy trailer without policing yourself on the throttle by watching your EGT and boost numbers. So, if the goal is to hook up a 12K load, aim the truck up an 8% grade, and glue the accelerator to the floor for the entire climb, an EZ is not the right choice alone.

Personally, I don’t need or want much more power than stock, because of the cost and risk of modifying the engine. I can see how I could easily spend 5-10k (twins + o-rings) on my truck if I decided to do some serious performance upgrades. The only upgrade I would consider now is a Piers modified turbo (about $400?), if it would lower my EGT numbers when loaded.

The EZ is cheap power, and really wakes up the truck in the lower RPM’s. It makes stop and go driving around town a pleasure, and I can accelerate off the line much quicker than stock. Empty it makes the truck a hoot to drive, on any of the three levels. Towing requires level one or two depending on weight, and keeping an eye on your pyrometer if you are choosing to pass every living creature up every pass. The EZ is not ideal, magic, or idiot proof, but for what it is, I think it is a really neat product.
