04.5 engine mod?

Gave up on '05 truck as it was missing a bunch of stock stuff and looked like it had been dragged through a JC Whitney catalog. As luck would have it I found an 04. 5 Laramie Dually with NV5600 same night and am going to buy it instead. The only question I have is that the owner says he "modified a stock part to offset an injector timing change made in 04. 5"



What is this mod and does it get picked up by the computer and void the warranty?

he said it affected the mileage on the 04. 5's and was not specific as to the name of the part. I think he may have had a shop do it and therefore doesn't know the name of the part? If it is the tone ring does it affect the warranty and are there any posts you can point me to that explain it?

he also said it corrected 2 degrees of timing that was different between the 04. 5 and the 04's. said it was a mileage deal...

I doubt it would effect the warranty in most cases. Do a search, I know a month or two ago the tone ring mod was all the rage. There are probably several threads discussing it. I have not done it, but as far as I know you can reverse it.

Yeah it sounds to me as if he has done the tone ring mod, or had a rokktech sensor installed.

Either of those items is reversable and should be undetectable by the dealer without looking SPECIFICALLY for them. Supposed to be a good mod on a 4. 5.
