04.5 How do I find out which transmission I have?

Newby Question.

This is my 2nd Ram and 1st diesel. Build date was June 2004, 4 speed automatic transmission, but how do I know which transmission I have?

I feel sure this question has been answered before but I can not find it in my search.

That was quick! Am I to understand that there is not an approved exhaust brake for this transmission (48re) as yet?

nope... . the jacobs got pulled but pacbrake is still claiming they are compatable. look into them. http://www.pacbrake.com/exhaust/dodge.html

Is packbrake approved for the 2004. 5 with automatic transmission?

Chrysler warranty does not approve any exhaust brake for Autos at this time. Take a look up at the top for the thread from Carlton he has the answers as they come about.
