I purchased an 04. 5, 4x4 LB,Automatic in late April and have the symptoms as mentioned by John Holmes on page 105, issue 45. When I test drove the monster I noticed a slight shutter exactly at 5 mph coming from a dead stop. Unfortuneately I did not get the truck up to 72 mph or I would have noticed the vibration John is refering to, and would have walked away from the truck. Anyway, I bought the vehicle and was assured by the dealer the launch shutter would be fixed.
The 72 mph vibration became worse at 3,000 miles, the dealer replaced the rear driveline and a majority of the vibration went away. I can still feel it in the truck.
Last week at 7200 miles the dealer tried to fix the launch shutter by increasing the angle of the drivelines, apparently the dcx folks are aware they have a problem. Now,the shutter is worse and I have vibrations at 50,60,and 72 mph. After driving the dealers service tech around, he even agrees there is a problem. The dealer is going to re-install the old bracket, rotate and balance the tires and inspect the front end, then they want to pull the 48re disassemble it and look for problems. Any ideas out there?
