Ordered 600HO 3500 Dully 8Mar04 at Chaprell Dodge, Ada, OK. Drove away with it 17Mar05. First tank at 362 miles I got 14. 77mpg. On second tank and indicating 16. 5mpg. Looking good to me... Milage computed with actual fuel fill with auto shutoff... .

what's the difference...

between your diesel(good mpg's)and my diesel(11. 8 mpg's)it has got to be in the eletronics or a part i can change out

Well, this is what I got back from Cummins. It's not what Mvaden got back but maybe that will come later. Looks like Ken is the man to check complaints. It appears they are hinting that they may actually look into this issue seriously if they have more complaints. So get those keyboards clicking. Its worth a shot.

By the way diesel is $2. 59/gal here in Apple Valley, CA. I cleaned my baby up today from my 4200 mile and will give her a little time off until my next trip out of CA.

Summary: 600 cummins fuel mileage

Solution:

Ken, we have seen two or three of these emails on poor fuel mileage. Is

somebody looking in to these complaints?

Details:

This question concerns . The application is being used in a dodge

I am writing about the poorer the expected fuel mileage in my 04. 5

dodge ram 1 ton. I expected more that 15mpg out of my truck with 8000 miles

on the clock. This is driving it like I have an egg between my foot

and the accelerator. I hear that many more owners are experiencing even

worse milage that I.

Are you working on a revision to improve mileage?? I bought this

cummins engine because of the reputation of power and fuel economy was

better than the competitors. Now this.

Please help.

My 3500 SRW 2WD 6-speed Kalifornia Model went 633. 3 miles on 36. 06 gallons which works out to 17. 5+mpg. Those that put the pump back after the pump shuts off automatically are cheating themselves out of(in my case) 7. 5 gallons of fuel. Take the time and fill it to the rim. Been driving diesel powered pickups since 1983 and have always filled them to the rim and never ever had a problem.

Hate to reopen a sore topic, but was also hoping to find that DC was helping. I moved up from a 98. 5 2500 auto 3. 54 4x2 215/420 to a new 04. 5 325/600 auto 4. 11 4x2. Mine like others mileage sucks, 7. 5-8. 0 towing, 13. 0-13. 5 solo. Towing I am at 22,000 GCW and 13' tall with Sunnybrook in tow. The 98 got 11. 0 towing at the same speed and 17 solo. I will admit I like the power the 04 has over the 98. Truck has 5500 miles now, 1500 of them towing. No change in mileage since new either. At these mileage figures I should have bought an FL60. Still holding out that DC will do something... soon.

My 2003 dualie 6 sp never got less than 16 empty and I would avg 13 pulling a 13,000 lb 5th wheel. I did get 1. 5 more mpg when I put the TST box on. I recently added a 2004. 5 4x4 4 dr auto to my collection. Never got anything higher than 14 empty (now have 7000 miles on truck) in combined city/hiway driving. Not real happy with mileage on 04. 5 but will soon add a box to see if that might help. :{

my 04. 5 w/ 6spd 3. 73 rear avg 15. 7 while towing a car trailer loaded and 20. 1 empty (truck only). i have 1300 miles so far.

love the cummins 600 Oo.
