I have an 04. 5 with the AFE and TST. I am only seeing 30PSI max too. My EGTs on 3/3 climb to 1400. I guess I need to try out this method of increasing the boost. I would like to get more out of the box (say 5/5) before I melt a piston.

Any pictures of this bomb?

Gwoody,

Thanks for the elbow Tip. . I enlarged the hole in my elbo this morning and now I am seeing 38lbs of boost. I am sure I could play with it and get this up to 40 easily. I am hoping I can make 40 by just playing with the set screw now tha it is enlarged.

Doug,

Sorry your dyno run did not go as you had hoped. I dyno'd my truck last Thursday on a Dynojet at a friends Mustang Speed shop MPE Racing. Almost was to long to fit on his dyno. You definately want to be in a 1:1 gear for good readings. I have a auto so I ran in 3rd in Tow/haul mode. 0/0 was 258@457ft/lbs 3/3 was 360@625ft/lbs I tried running 4/4 but think egts were limiting the run as I got 371@623. I have the TST with egt and had it set at 1300.

All these pulls were prior to modifying elbow so I was making just around 30lbs.

Anyone have any idea what making 38lbs instead of 30 lbs may work out to for increase in hp/ft lbs?

Thanks, Jeff

Just adjust the setscrew in until the desired boost is achieved. I have done many. I adjust to get about 38psi on the highest box setting the clutch or torque converter will handle. You can readjust as you replace drive train components to handle higher box settings.

BTW... I made a typo... my baseline power was 261... not 216...

I think the 110 horse bump of the TST may prove that the current program is a bit weaker than the old one?

Doug,

Do you have the TST with built in guages? I made 360hp@625ft/lbs on 3/3. I could not get the torque to go any higher on other levels but believe it was because I had the temp set at 1300 and the TST was defueling because of temp. I also had TST boost elbow and was making 30lbs of boost. I modified the elbow this weekend and now have 38lbs of boost. How much will the 8lbs of boost help my numbers? Any guess?

I do not have the defueling box... analog gauges.

No idea on your boost issue, but i was only making 371 HP at 9/4... so i am probably a bad person to talk to... I have been making 38 lbs. of boost since I installed my PMCR... I just installed a FASS today... we'll re-dyno sometime soon. I like the TST box, but can't help feeling like I may be behind the curve on the power I should be making...

I have no idea on HP numbers, but I can tell a lot of difference in the 8psi of boost. Doesn't have as much turbo lag and when now when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it breaks my 33" tires loose.

What levels do you run your TST on? I don't think my transmission could spin the tires shifting, the transmission seems to soft when shifting.

Any where from 3/3 to 6/3. If I am setting still and build up boost then let off the brake it will shift to 2nd prety quick and spin the tires. Although sometimes the torque converter won't allow it to.

Is anyone running a after market torque converter with out a fully built transmission? Or can that even be done?
