OK, I'm looking for the air conditioning TSB for the '04. I think I'm having the same problem a few of you had, overfilled refrigerant from the factory. It blows lukecool, but not cold :( . Is there an actual TSB or should I just take it in?? My build date is Feb. '04. Thanks in advance.

Mine seems to be them same way, just not as cold as the other vehicles I drive. Especially if you are idling at a light. I also notice a mileage drop when using the air.

I am going to have them check it when I take it in for that first oil change. (The one with the tight filter) My build date is: March 2004.

dodge has had some problems with air conditioning for the last few years.

my coworker has an '02 durango RT - top of the line. the air has never worked sufficiently. they have had it back 4 or 5 times. DC keeps saying "it is working as designed". unfortunately the outlet air temp never gets cold enough (around 50 degrees) to cool the vehicle unless you keep the engine at around 3000 rpm. not a good thing!

as far as mileage dropping during air use - that is a given. the compressors typically take somewhere between 5 and 25 horsepower to run.

My new 04. 5 A/C blows real cold on the recirculate setting but "good to ok" if I switch to outside air. I'm going to pay closer attention to this.

To make a long story short I've been complaining to Dodge about poor mileage. Dodge has found that the air conditioning problem of not blowing cold air is occuring in some vehicles and the reflash of the computer not only fixes the A/C problem but also there have been reports of increased mileage. Dodge was going to reflash my 2004. 5 (even though my A/C works great on 102 degree days) for better milage but to my dismay it has the latest programming available.

According to Dodge Engineering it's a programming error not an overfill of refrigerent that is causing your A/C problems. Regardless of what the Dealer is telling folks they reflash to correct the A/C

Not all 3rd Gens have this problem my 2003 blows such cold air I sometimes need to add heat after a prolong drive. My fan kicks on quite a bit while I am in stop and go traffic and that keeps it cool maybe you are having trouble with electronic clutch fan?

Elk Grove Dodge is the service facility, will not go to Lasher in South Sac.

Elk Grove Dodge is a Lasher dealership (at least all their paper plates say so)... Are the service departments that different?

What's your build date? Thanks.
