New Truck Arrived

Those computer get updated more then once a week. I know this because when mine was being built, I was calling a few times a week but sometimes a couple times a day. And with these calls, I would see updates. Also when tracking my shippment, I would see daily changes. If they were doing it once a week, their going backwards.

I want to add a tidbit of information to this thread that has been confirmed by two separate dealers in two different state's. There were quite a few trucks that were ordered by dealers ( mine included which was ordered 9-1-03) that were damaged/destroyed during a storm/hurricane at the plant in Mexico.

I tracked my truck's status by phone. It was built, then supposedly shipped by boat to N. J. then all of a sudden the story's started. " Well Mr. Rosco your truck is not in N. J. , then it is in N. J. , then it's back in Mexico for quality control inspections with no estimated ship date" and so on.

Bottom line is the truck was damaged and never left the factory to begin with. From what my dealer said this morning a replacement is being built as I type.

I gave up on this truck a month ago and had my dealer do a search to find me a different truck and I am glad I did because I could not be without a truck until mid December.

I hope this help out some of you guy's who are wondering where your truck may be.

my salesman called yesterday and advised the truck is now D1.

i then called cust. srvc. for more detail and received VIN. according to DC, it will be built on or about 12-6 give or take a day. HOWEVER, it may take up to 3 weeks to get here from mexico. i am not surprised, after reading others posts about delivery delays.

should make a great christmas present :)

I ordered 10/13 and it was built 10/23 thru 10/27 then shipped 11/2. From 11/2 til 11/19 is showed status as Veracruz. They told me it hadn't left yet. 15 days was average transit time. Which would have made that the 17th, but they kept saying it was in Mexico and still need to be shipped up and go through customs. Well, it arrived in Baltimore on the 25th. So I think there is no status change from the rail to the ship. I also assume it stays in the rail car for the boat ride.

How long do you think it takes a ship to go from Mexico to Baltimore.

Now I'm waiting on my dealer to send a car carrier to pick it up.

It's more likely that someone just didn't update the status in the data base. Two reasons. It would be really foolish to load a railcar onto a ship. Why pay for shipping all that extra weight? DC is losing enough money as it is! Second, the Insight Network Logistics database that dealers use to track vehicle movement now shows my truck's status and location as "Vessel". It shows six days from Vera Cruz to Tampa, then seven days to get by truck from Tampa to Key West. Well, it's only 400 miles from Tampa to Key West, so the actual truck transit time is a day. The rest of the time must be to sort out which trucks go where and for Customs to do their thing.

Picked up my truck today. 04 3500 srw everything but 4x4. also here in texas was able to get 2500. + 500. + 500 fb + free siris for life of truck. Time for Snoopy dance. Drive home was 150 miles, all is well, no complaints. I recommend Blue Bonnett for dealer, contact web sales JIM Belt.

:( I may be a conspiracy theorist, but... The $500 holiday bonus might be the reason MY truck, and perhaps others were delayed. The DC computer shows my truck as a "Sold" order. If shipment of mine were delayed and an Unsold truck shipped instead, some dealer would have an opportunity to sell that truck with the $500 being available. Oh well, I won't cry too much about it. WHen I ordered mine, the rebate was $1,000. It 's $2500 now, so the price will be $1,500 less than what I'd originally planned. Also, I'm buying on employee price, 5% under invoice, so not doing too bad on it.

The Insight data base is showing arrival at Port of Tampa on 12/1 and delivery to Key West on 12/8. That's OK. If I get it on the 9th, I'll have time to do some shakedown miles before heading off to Michigan for Christmas.

BTW, it's really cold here this AM. 63 degrees with 16 mph north wind. Had to get out long sleeves and long pants! Our Abate Chapter is having our annual Toy Run tomorrow. I'm sure the leather jackets and boots will be out in force.

That's why Charley, my salesman, wrote "all incentives in effect at the time the truck arrives go to the buyer". on my order sheet.

Yellowstone Country Motors in Livingston, MT has been good to me the last two trucks... better than Dave Smith, Lithia in Billings, Dishman in Spokane, Performance in Butte, or Ron Sayer in Idaho Falls. I won't even mention JC Billion in Bozeman - what a joke. Gotta wheel and deal :-{} ,or walk if the truck isn't pre-EGR or incentives evaporate.

Actually the DC Customer Order Protection program gives you a better deal than that. What if, when your truck arrives, there is NO rebate program? With what the dealer promised, you'd get nothing. Right now it's $2500. That ends 1/2/04. There is most likely going to be a new one, perhaps better, perhaps worse.

What the Customer Order Protection program says is the customer gets the better of any cash incentive program. If better when you order, then you get that. If better when it arrives you get that, but not both. When I ordered, the rebate was $1000. When it gets here on 12/8 (hopefully), I will get the $2500 that is in effect at that time. If the situation were reversed, $2500 when I ordered, $1000 at time of delivery, I'd get the $2500. I don't know what would happen if I ordered at $1000, it went to $2500, then went to 0 at time of delivery. I'd get at least the $1000 and would try realy hard for the $2500, but might not get it. I'm just hoping for 12/8.

Thanks Moterhead, thats good to know. My solution was "or walk if the truck isn't pre-EGR or the incentives vanish".

The one hook on this program is there must be a signed order in place. Not just a handshake, deposit, etc. I believe your post said something about the salesman writing on the order, so you do have one. What I posted was lifted from the DC "Gold" Book. The actual title is "Cash Allowance/APR/Certificate/Additive Allowance General Rules. It's section 3 "Customer Order Protection. First para says "A claim for... . supported by a retail buyer's order and secured by a customer's deposit and receipts and... . VON... . Dealer must retain these documents as part of the purchaser's file. The last para of 3 says "if the vehicle is delivered after the end date of eligibility for a specific model, the customer will have the choice of the prgrams avaiable at the time of customer order or at the time of vehicle delivery, but not both. "

This guidance doesn't address the case where, after the order the rebate goes up, but that program expires before delivery.

Hope this explains things.

Hoorah, Insight shows my truck got to Tampa the 29th! If Customs would get moving, I might actually get it earlier than the 8th. In looking at the Customer Order Protection stuff, I noticed the statement about a retail customer order. It occured to me that I don't actually have one. The dealer and I have everything else. An agreement on tradein value, an agreement on price. So, tomorrow, I go to the dealer and we write up a purchase agreement. The $500 Holiday Bounus money is good thru tomorrow, December 1. My rebate entitlement will start then, so I'll be protected on both the $2500 rebate and the $500 bonus!!

Looks like the price of my new truck just went down another $500!!! :D

Whoa! Thats good news Moterhead. Looks like you will have a merry Christmas!

My truck was D1 two weeks ago. Tomorrow, Monday, I'll give my dealer a call and see what status my dually is in. I turned my rig in to protect the trade in price and keep me from racking up more miles. Last time I tried to sell my truck with no luck because I'm in the middle of nowhere. Five of the eight families already have a CTD. (One of the three 'unenlightened', who has a gasser 2 gen. was woking me on the asking price. ) Consequently, I put 5000 miles and a dinged windshield between order and the six week arrival. YCM was not exactly happy. :( Its been a long wait being stuck here at the ranger station forty-one miles from town. Plus, my wife is 250 miles of snow packed mountain roads away in MT.

Thanks for the additonal info on the Customer Order Protection stuff. My truck gotta be here before the $2500 incentive expires. Since I'm a member of Farm Bureau, I'll get the $500 off. And what is Christmas but THE Holiday. So I'm hoping they will extend the $500 bonus. The other good thing about Yellowstone Country Motors, besides giving a better price than Dave Smith, Lithia, Dishman (CarsDirect), and etc. is they haven't required a deposit on either the trucks I purchased there. :p

Actually the $2500 incentive will probably zoom up to $4500 after the $2500 expires. Cuz' that how it usually goes:{ . But I'm so jacked Oo. about getting a pre-EGR that I don't care if it does.

PS: called DC on 21/1 and my baby is now off the assembly line. I ordered the rig on 10/10.

Called DC again today. My 3500 QC SWB that was ordered 10/10 has now reached BX status, with an allocation hold. Seems like sold orders should take precedence over stock orders, but what do I know?

My impression was just the opposite, that sold orders get pushed back, BECAUSE they are sold. As I've posted many times here, my truck was built rather quickly (ordered 9/25, went KZ on 10/17). It sat on a railcar in Saltillo and then Vera Cruz from 10/17 until it got loaded on the boat on 11/25! I wouldn' call that any sort of precedence!!! It's now "On Ramp" in Port of Tampa according to the Insight Logistics Data Base. What ever On Ramp means. Scheduled for delivery to Key West on 12/8.

Update Ten

Just a quick update,

My truck ordered on 9/25 has now gone to D1 with a tentative ship date of 12/9 and delivery date of 12/23. If I don't take delivery the 24th, it will be between the holidays for the two days dealer is open then. With the prep and accessories, it may not be until 04 before I drive truck home, but at least it is being build now for sure.

For sure it wont have the newer, improved, better, higher horse power, more torque, 50 state legal, emissions "wonder what it will be engine".

That doesn't bother me much, wait and see what they announce on the 10th of this month.

Make sure you've got the Buyer Protection on your order. The current rebate program expires 1/2/04. That way you will at least get the rebate that was in effect when you ordered (or the PO is signed) or the new program, whichever is better.

As I'v posted before, you and I ordered the same day. MIne is in Tampa, "On Ramp" whatever that means. Scheduled for delivery on 12/8.

Good Luck!

all of my orders that did not get built... .

will switch automaticly to the new "600" diesel engine

just thought I'd let you know

Okay, me thinks you got an inside tip on what the "six hunnert" is going to be. Fess up bro. :)

Got word from the dealer today mine is on the rail in the middle of TayHaus - a little spanish lingo for my new bambino set to arrive on 12/25.

Would anyone be able to run my order on Insight and email me a copy of the page? The truck is still in Mexico. My dealer refuses to print out the page for me. Thanks to anyone who can help.
