Howdy,

UPDATE:

I have been camping out at the Dealer lately, with no success as of yet, however a new serious vibration has developed while taking service manager & Mechanics for test drive. If I open the windows, doesn't matter front or rear but its much worst with the rear open the entire interior and seats, mirrors bed of truck starts a shaking vibration. This happens from 45-70 MPH, at 70 MPH you hear the roar if you open the rear windows you hear and feel it.

Dealer has rotated & balanced all tires with no success as of yet, and still waiting for DC to respond.

Thanks, TJ

I hope someone can help me with this noise the dealer has no clue, yea I know whats new. $42,000 truck and Dealer says it normal for a 4X4. BS I say I;ve been running 4 Wheel drives of every type sense the early sixties. and my other Doge is a 99 3500 4X4.

04 2500 Quad Cab Auto Trans 4X4 4:10 gears short bed w/ HD 4X4 package with 5,000 miles. I have tried air pressure changes in the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail All Terrain 265X70X17 tires from 40 to 80 PSI and no help. I do not believe it is my tires as my friend is running the same rubber with out the roar.

The noise/roar starts at about 35 MPH and gets loader as the speed increases. at 65-75 MPH the ROARING is almost unbearable, and at 80 plus it is unbearable. you cant turn the radio up load enough to mask the sound of this roaring noise.

The roar sounds like Super Swampers on an open cab jeep. I also have a vibration the you can feel in the drivers seat and floor pan.

Thanks, TJ

Driveshaft, Axles (gear noise), transmission. Its possible it could be gear whine. I wouldnt think driveshaft but you can never rule it out. What about the exhaust? Good Luck

Take one of the dealer's techs for a drive at 80mph... If the roar is loud enough to overcome the radio at 80, thats pretty dang loud. . hmm... dunno what else to tell ya. .

good luck

'I don't know about O4 eng but the 99 I have had a noise (roar) from 35mph up until a mechanic told me to move the heater hose coming out of the fire wall to the block forward one plug hole had to put on longer hose ,solved the problem , it did not matter if heater was on or off . Just a thought . Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY.

I've had improperly shimmed gears do something similar. The faster you go the louder it got. (Improper depth on pinion gear)

I'd take the service guy out for a ride in a NEW truck and then your truck. If yours is as loud as you say, it should become obvious to him that something is wrong.

I almost believe these service guys make a commission on every turned away warranty service attempt. It amazes me what these guys will say just to avoid doing a warranty repair.

Good Luck!

I posted an updated at the top of my first post,

and the vibration continues to elude me & DC. One of my rims needed more lead weight than the rest but not bad, and all four are wearing very even.

All fluids are okay, so Monday I will pull front Drive shaft first and test drive and then the rear and run off the front shaft and see what happens.

Thanks TJ
