Anyone know if the brushed aluminum around the radio is 3M taped over the normal plastic? Ie, can you buy just that piece and put it over the SLT's trim?

Thanks for the report on the RB1, I think I'll just keep the old Garmin mounted to the dash. I can look at it pretty easily even when driving down the road and still have the road somewhat in the background.

If you have an SLT you could opt for something like this: link

That's what I was thinking about doing if I get the Laramie and don't like it. You can send the dash piece in and it'll come back with any kind of faux wood or color you could dream of. I was thinking about maybe carbon fiber and then having the steering wheel done too... since the leather always wears through at the top after a year or two. I was looking at american-stitches.com for the steering wheel mod for my '99...

As said earlier, there are a couple of interior pics in my readers gallery. I'd attach them to this message, but i've yet to learn how. If you need any additional photos, just let me know. I'd be happy to snap a photo and post it or email it to you. My interior is stock with exception to replacing the Infinity stereo/cd changer and the door sill plates. Let me know if I can answer any questions for ya.

Yeah I got some pics... both Gray and Taupe... I'm not crazy about the silver in either one, although it's not offensive looking. I was just sayin that there are options if anyone happens to really displike the silver or would like something else better. I personally thing the carbon fiber look or a burlwood grain would look pretty nice...

I personally like the silver look and am wondering if the silver piece around the stereo is the piece that snaps out. If so, does anyone know if the part can be ordered from a dodge dealer?

Before you are too quick to order that Laramie, remember it has the push button transfercase. A big MINUS in my book. It kept me from getting one. Just my 2 cents worth

Actually it is a "turn knob" not "push button" LOL

I have been happy with the elec trans case, more space on the floor for stuff. I too was against it being an off-roader, but now that I have it, it is nice.

Personaly I am glad I got an 03 with the wood grain and not the brushed alum look. I like the looks of the wood grain much better, the alum looks kinda cheap to me. You would think they would offer both.

I like my brushed aluminum trim... . just wish I had more of it around the interior (knobs, door handles, gauge bezel, etc... ). I get compliments about the trim all the time. I had the wood trim in my 01' which I liked too and also received numerous compliments on it. In my opinion the brushed aluminum is more "sporty" looking whereas the wood trim is more "sophisticated / classy". I would not advise basing your purchase solely on the the trim in the truck. There are dash trim kits all over the internet where you can buy wood, metal, colors, carbon fiber, etc... for pretty cheap. If you want the Laramie, buy it -- if you don't like the trim, change it later.

As for the electric "dial a drive" -- I miss the looks of the manual on the floor, but the ease of electric transfer dial is SOOOO nice. I've not had any problems whatsoever. Just used it again this morning because of some light snow in my area. I also like having the dial for my wife. There were times when she was driving the truck that she had a really difficult time getting it into 4x4 with the manual. With the dial switch she will never have the problem again.

I am sure you can replace the panel because it does just snap out. All you have to do is remove the screw by the trash bag holder and then the whole panel w/ the vents will come out. You could then replace it with the brushed alum. panel new vents and all because it doesn't look like it would be to easy to just remove the brushed alum part from the the panel.

Not sure about the door panels though. But I am sure there is a way to change those aswell.

Outlaw1Sammy..... You can purchase these plates directly from your dealer. I'm drawing a blank on what I paid for them, but they were under $100. Thanks for the compliment... . I like em too.
