Just topped off my 3rd tank and went 584. 1 miles(ding dong came on) put in 31. 1gals. and got 18. 7 mpg:)

Dealer tank was 17. ? doubt if they topped it off like I do. Second tank was 18. 2 mpg I don't think its to bad for a AT. 1527 miles on it.

I averaged 18. 3 from Denver to Vegas and back at 70-80 mph.

I have not hand calculated it yet but I think the computer was close.

best for me was 22. 5 MPG

thats with a SO/5-spd, and EZ-level 4, and using SHELL Rotella DFA

:) Not bad I my opinion

How long did it take you to top off ? Are the '04's any easier than the '03's ? How much hair did you pull out trying to top off ? It sometimes takes me 8 to 10 minutes to get in the last 3. 5 to 4. 0 gallons or so.

I just got an 04 with the HO/6spd. Avg for first tank was 19. 2, next tank in the mountains of KY went 19. 9 and on a run from VA to CT got 20. 1 out of it. All done hand calculations. The overhead was about 2/10s short of the real numbers. No problems topping it off quickly. About like my previous gasser. Maybe they fixed it?? When the pump kicks off, I might get another 1/2 gal in it, going slow, but it's topped.

Sheesh, my first fill got 15. 4. That's combo driving figured the old fashion way. I never got that low on my '01. Still only 900+ miles on it though. 2WD LWB, Auto.

It did not take me any longer to top this one off than it did the 03 maybe sereral minutes to the point I stop at. After it shuts off the first time I usually go ten more clicks on the pump so I should have about the same amout every time. And I don't mess with pulling any hair out cause its getting thiner up there on its own. :D

takes me almost 10 minutes to load the last 4 gallons. now I don't even bother to do it, unless I know I will depend on that extra 80 miles.

best mpg I got was I84 across So. Oregon from Pendleton to Ontario. Filled up in Pendleton, and the road conditions over the blue mountains were terrible and we had about 10 minutes of slow 4x4 in 4-hi on near black ice up on deadmans pass, and probably an hour of 30-45 mph while decending into Lagrande. rest of the trip was wet roads at 60-65. I was running empty with just my wife aboard. got 20. 6 mpg according to the computer but with my 285/70 tires that figure is about 3% low.

when we got to Ontario, OR, the roads were dry and the speed limit increased to 75 at the Idaho border. within 40 miles of driving 75, my average mph had decreased to 20. 0 on the computer.

boy these engines really do well with low speed fuel economy. 20 mph is not bad for a 7,500 lb 4X4 that spins the front drive shaft all the time just to keep the oil mixed up good in the xfer case :).

Just for interests sake, I got this Mopar magazine in the mail from DC and in there was a description of how great the Durango is for towing -- but it got only 8 mpg while towing within its limits! yikes.
