04 or 04.5?

That's correct, but you could get either until August... I looked at an 04 555CTD that had a build date of 8/04. The engine data plate is the only real way to tell what engine it has... either 325HP (600CTD) or 305HP (555CTD).

My 10th digit is a 4 also and I have an 04. 5. The Valve cover sticker that states

325HP 600TQ is the easiest way I know of.

looking for some info here, whats the diff between 04 and 04. 5? I'm shopping for newer truck and need all the info i can get. thanks

The 04's have the 305/555 engine. The 04. 5's have the 325/600 engine.

The 05 and later have 325/610. The 04's generally get better fuel mileage than

the newer trucks and the oil stays cleaner longer. The 04. 5's have a third injection event (for emission purposes) that causes the lower fuel mileage.



They all run like scalded dogs though!
