questions on my 2004 cummins 6 speed. When the truck has sat long enough to cool down and the truck is fired it smokes. The smoke is a white blue color? The truck also lobes a bit when first started. The truck is not burning oil. The truck does not smoke after a couple of minutes. The truck is stock other than a turbo back 4 inch. Any help will be greatly appreciated:confused:

check the oil level after letting the truck sit overnight may be a injector leaking down. Does it crank longer in the mornings to get it fired up?

I was thinking that too. Run the tank down to 1/4 tank of less and put a full bottle of a good fuel treatment and dog it for a few miles and fill it back up and add one more bottle and see if that helps.

what brand of fuel treatment should I try? Do you think it has any thing to do with the fact the truck has only 27000 miles on it? I bought the truck a month ago and now it is on the road daily. I also noticed the warmer the outside temp the less it smokes. When I fired the truck up in the morning,60 deg. it smoked, after work 85 deg. next to nothing. I think the truck sat a lot before i bought it. I will say it runs good, and is getting 20 mpg. On a side note, my 2006 quad auto stock other than a magnaflow 5 inch cat back, the turbo spools much more? Maybe just the dif. between manual and auto trans?

How much smoke are we talkin'? It sounds totally normal to me... . a little white/blue smoke on cool mornings is normal, and just like you said, once the ambient warms the smoke is gone... . I don't think you have anything to worry about. jmho. ;)

You likely have one or more bad injectors. Granted, there could be other causes (CP3?), but most people who have descibed those syptoms have had bad injectors.

my 03 had the same starting problem and slowly got worse and worse and wouldnt even start after a while had to pull start it. It starting smoking more and more slowly and the injectors rattled more and more. Changed injectors and it was fine for a year then same problem again! changed injectors out 4 times and had enough! about 300,000KM at this point but enough $$$ spent on injectors! pulled the 03 isb out and put in a 98 12V! Problem solved!
