Meredog, how much does she weigh empty? I'm looking to get a 48' toy hauler in 2 years and I have no clue about what those things weigh in at. I'm going to buy an '09 or '10 Reg cab 3500 to pull it. I guess a toy hauler will weigh a couple thousand more with the living quarters.

12'. . 24'... :-laf Try this!!! 48'x9'5 high, 10,520# can on 40' 9400#, 39" off ground trailer, pulled by 9100# truck!
I quit hauling conex box's. Too high EGT's, terrible fuel mielage, and if your pushing a 20mph coastal wind - it makes for a miserable day.

Looks like I'm in a slightly more exclusive club. I call it the "Not everyday but a couple times a month I'll gross 40K club. "

Oh yeah, my dog's smarter than your's is too.

RIGHT AT 7500 # to bad you are not ready now, as mine is for sale - have 23000 in it need 18000 for it.

Well, I need living quarters in mine so yours wouldn't work. I'm going to be living in it full time and traveling out west. I was figuring around 12k lbs on a 48' toy hauler but it sounds like it may be less. That would be great. I've found new Haulmark 48' toy haulers for $30k. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Thanks for the info.

yea. all we needed was sleeping quarters so i had them put insulated walls and ceiling in with a devider wall 6 foot back from the gooseneck, that still gives me 40' of usable deck space. Have a bed--couch--tv--air conditioning--carpet--windows and doors--all wired for electric so is pretty comfy.

We usually cook on a portable grill and carry a day or two's supplies in a cooler.

hualing that much weight on a regular basis lead to much quicker drivleline and suspension problems and maybe a loose turbo bolt or two:-laf.

Buddy if mine in Seguin hot shots and is always loading his trailer with 15-18,000lb loads and wonders why his truck is falling apart :{and he needed new rear brakes and rotors at 70,000 miles. Duh!

Im on my 3rd CTD with combined miles of 778,000. Out of all those miles I have never had to have a transmission rebuilt. Repaired but never rebuilt. I've actually had 4 but I cant count my wifes truck.

I've been steering clear of the darn things myself too as of late. Kinda think that may have been the root of my 6 speed troubles. 20 MPH coastal winds? Hah, try 40-60 MPH in the mountains of Cali. coming out of L. A. With the tandem duals under mine, it was not "too bad" , my other hauling buddy with 3 single 7k's... . Almost had 2 40' HC's to go to PHX last week, but guess that cheap date found someone else to haul the things! :p

I am at 70,000 with this 06 hauling this 53' trailer. up and down mountains---coast to coast. i think this is the best Dodge i have owned since i started buying them in 1972 Used, never abused, serviced better than required by DC.

The only thing to this point that has been replaced was the front driveshaft. (greasable u joint had not been greased as recommended) was replaced by dodge extended warranty
