This is my first CTD so please forgive some basic questions. I was inspecting the front end of my 4x2 (450 miles), and I notice a couple things on the turbo. On the compressor, I had several drops of oil clinging to the bottom edge. There is no sign of seepage at the oil supply connection, only oil on the bottom side compressor housing. Now the oil filter also had a few drops and perhaps oil blew over to the compressor from this source. ? There was not enough oil to drip to the ground. Is it common to have oil seepage from the filter? Because of the recent cold weather, I've limited engine speed to 1800 rpm until the thermostat opens. But, could this cause the oil pressure to reach a level that would cause seepage? The past two days starting temperature was in the uppe twenties, and I only had the block heater on for two hours.
Second item I noticed is the rubber hose from the compressor housing to the dashpot, which I assume controls the wastegate. The hose was pushed up against the air inlet, and the hose was pinched inward at the nipple on the dashpot. If this hose was pinched closed, could this cause problems with boost pressures, and, if so, would this cause the boost pressure to be higher or lower than it would be without a pinched hose?
Thanks!
