Been here just reading for a year or so .

In the process of having my rotors turned

I need to replace my upper balljoints (torn dust boots )

Parts store says Control Arm only . No ball joint avaiable . #@$%!

Is there any other option ? Looking for a greasable replacement joint .

04. 5 SRW 3500 2wd

Thanks Larry

I have kept up with the thread

" Mother of all balljoints "

Called Carlie Suspension , talked to Jessie .

Their joints only fit 4x4 trucks . #@$%!

Any other " better than stock " balljoints out there ?

Larry

Just replaced all four of mine with Moog adjustable uppers and non-adjustable lowers; all greasable. Supposedly, these are better than most and came with lifetime guarantee. Purchased them at O'Reilly's. However, will be taking truck back to allignment shop (for third time) as the truck still tends to "wander".

I had the same problem after doing the ball joints on my 05 4x4. after updating the steering linkage to the 08 stuff and installing a steering box stablizer I found it was the steering box it self too much play. there is an adjustment on the top of the box to take up the back lash in the gears. I tightened this up a bit and now things are back to normal. It was a rough few weeks trying to fix this thing. I think the new ball joints are a bit too stiff at first and shows everything that is worn or loose. Good Luck hope this helps.

If you won't ahve to buy another set again, then it might be worth it. Anyone had any exp with these?

I have them on my truck for a month now. While my stock uppers were still good. I was at the shop getting another component put on and might as well get the upper ball joints swapped out for future problems. Those *******s are beefy... ... ... Oo.

I have been running them for quite some time including pre running and doing chase duties in Baja and am very impressed with what they can take. I see them as a very likely lifetime part. With the price pople are paying for labor and replacing with oem or close multiple times you will be money ahead stepping up

I have the Moogs on my 03' and I love them. Yes, they cost more, but you will never have to buy another set again... . They may go bad, but you will get them replaced for free minus labor. I went through three sets of ball joints in 55,000 miles on my truck..... Then I put in a set of Moogs and 43,000 miles later they look and feel like new.

Good Luck!

My truck must be a rare one. I have 86K on mine and they seem to be OK still.

Granted it is a pavement princess most of the time, but it has had oversized tires on it since 14K.

My truck is on its 3rd set and it only has 56k on it. And I think they are going again. All the balljoints got covered on my extended warranty contract. So the contract has pretty much paid for itself.

I might get a set of these balljoints if they last the life of the truck. Maybe I can convince chrysler to pay for them? :-laf or myabe its just wishful thinking :-laf

I'am picking up the new upper A arms today . then I will call Jesse and send him the used ball joint to measure against his Special Ball joints . Mabey get them to make a set up for us 2 wheel drivers ?
