04 vrs 04 1/2?

I've had three Gen 3 Dodges. One 10. 5'' and two 11. 5 inchers and none have howled.

5k on my '04, haven't noticed anything howling in the truck, except maybe me from time to time.

I did test drive a 04 whilst waiting for mine to arrive that did have a noisy rear end though. Thankfully mine has been OUTSTANDING thus far, cross-fingers. And if its as good as the last two I'm home free

What have you got to back that up? The only howling coming from my 04. 5 are my howls of delight every time I step on the gas!!! I have noticed that the truck is much quieter than the 03 SO that I traded in on it.

I've put a little over 13,000 miles on mine since I bought it in January. No howl here.

There have been quite a few complaints about differential gear noise-- do a search. Mine does it starting at about 65 mph and it's annoying. Just got back from a 2000 mile trip and it will get on your nerves. I've owned six pickups prior to this one and none had any gear noise. Not impressed with American Axle.
