03' BD Exhust Brake Problem

Need Better Gas Mileage

Well, I bought my '04 about a month ago before knowing about and joining the TDR. I was unaware of the new "600" about to be released. Did I mess up? Is there that much difference between the two? (Mine's an HO 6 speed. ) Anyone have enough miles yet to get an idea of fuel mileage? Does the "600" have PCV or a road draft tube? By the way, I traded in a 99. 5 Powerstroke and never looked back.

Thanks!

George

You did OK. Drive it and enjoy. There will always be something better to upgrade to just like computers. You bought the right truck and joined the right forum.

Chill, guys :D

Here is one of the very few, somone who became so intelligent that he got rid of his Ford and bought a Cummins powered Ram Oo.

No problem with the '04. Easier to add goodies (with today's knowledge and availability of stuff) and no catalytic converter. The 600 is a bit quieter, but coming from a powersmoke, either the 555 HO or the 600 HO is a lot quieter than what you had. You would be hard pressed to feel the difference in power.

george,

i picked mine up 12-27 with the knowledge that the 325/600 missed me by about 1 week. doesnt bother me at all. i love my truck and am extremely happy with it. the first major bomb will more than take care of the small hp/torque difference. plus, i dont have to deal with the "cat" in the exhaust.

so, be happy, enjoy your truck. you did the right thing.

Just something to consider... the 600 ft-lbs is rated at 1600 rpm. The 03/04 is 555 ft-lbs, rated at 1400 rpm. I wonder what the 600 is at 1400?

You will not have any regrets with the 305/555, it is a remarkable machine. I might feel badly if I had an '04 California (C. A. R. B. ) truck.

power

A friend of mine that owns a 2002 cummins went and drove

the 600 and then drove my 04 ho. He said the difference

was not very noticable if at all. If you want more power there are plenty of ways to get it;) .
