I am stranded in Moriarty, Nm!

Many of you have read of the problems I have had with this truck.

"04. 5 KA-POW" - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117560

----- 01/28/2004 NM I-40 Mile Marker 234 -----

Truck Sputters and slows to 20 mph I coast in to the gas station.

I called DC Customer Service on Friday, to ask them if they will step up and cover any repairs and towing since I am only 59 miles out of the warranty. I get the response that I should tow the truck to the nearest dealer, and let them diagnose the problem, and then they will make a decision. I asked if they would cover the tow to Albuquerque, Nm (the nearest dealer) and I am told no. I was also told I would be liable for any fees at the dealer if they decide not to warranty. they informed me that the trucks possession (as far as DC is concerned) has already been changed over to an independent third party (which is proprietary information that they cant give to me). For possible assistance with repairs or towing I should contact the un-named independent third party  ?

Truck re-starts!

----- Moriarty, Nm. MM 197 -----

The truck begins to limp along at 20mph again.

I stop at NAPA and check for lift pump operation, and loose connections. I unplug the front injector harness (cyl #1&2) and it doesn’t change the rough running engine, so I plug it back in, and try the same with the other two injector harness plugs. Killing the injectors for cyl #3&4 or #5&6 causes the engine to stumble and die. So I have come to the conclusion that cyl #1&2 are dead and possibly a third somewhere else, but I cant find a DVM to buy in this town to further test it.

The company I work for makes arrangements for me to unload the 30' RV locally and I continue to the truck stop... almost making it before the truck dies again! This time not to start again.

Still searching for solutions!

I either need to find a new truck to trade for here, or find a way to get hauled home.

I don't know what a lawyer would say, but it would be tempting to lock it and leave it and rent a car for the drive home. Let that unkown third party pick up in NM.

I would be tempted to look at something like what this guy, Onezmans Conversions, does. It would think it would last better than any light duty truck. I don't have one, so can't comment on the economics of operating one compared to a Ram. We are thinking about full-timing with one of these and a big 5th wheel when we retire.

I hope you have a good resolution, however it works out.
