Duramax is common rail and designed by Isuzu.

No, the Dmax uses Bosch HPCR components. The injectors and CP-3 are almost exactly like the ISB. The rails are just made for the application.

Isuzu in their infinite wisdom designed the heads so the cross over tubes are aexposed to the oil return under the VC's, not a return gallery. Guess what happened to many of the early engines when the tube seating failed. ;)

Yes kinda. I posted the the Bats were load tested and tested OK. But they sure didn't spin the engine like 2 new ones. And I am understanding now that the ECM needs a defined RPM before the IP will even kick in.

I know we talked about batteries ? didn't we?

The ECU fires injectors when the rail pressure meets a certain minimum, slow cranking delays that minimum. The injectors require a full 24 volts to fire accurately, low batteries being drained by cranking do not provide adequate volts to fire the solenoid correctly which causees slow\no start conditions. Batteries and connections are critical.

Cerb, is that 90V @20A to fire the injectors?
I seem to remember reading that several places or am I confused.

Scott

Probably, and it probably varies on the how the ECU decides to power the injector. All I know is it takes a full 24 volts, 12 from each battery, to make the step up transformer work correctly or the injectors get lazy.
