04A and 06A Smarty

Whats the difference between an 04A smarty and 06A smarty?

the software that is preloaded on it. . one comes with the 03-05 [04a] software, one 04-07 [06a]. . can be changed from one to the other by changing the software [downloaded from mads electronics webpage]

So for instance, if you have an 04A can you put 06A software in it?

NO you can not put the software for the 06A on an 04A, because some of the electronics inside (more memmory) have to be changed out.

06a can handle 2003-2006 0r 2004-2007 softwares

Whats the difference between the 06A and 04A softwares? For instance, if I've got an 05 cummins and an 04A Smarty, would the software you'd get from an 06A be the same as the software you'd get for an 04A. Or are they different?
