Buying a new house and may be giving up RV'ng for other things, so my CTD may be going up for sale. What do you think it is worth? Here is the breakdown:

'05 3500 2WD, AT, QC, SB, Laramie (with the heated leather and dual climate control, (No Navi) Factory fogs, tint and factory alloy wheels. Non-slider rear winder w/defrost. Linex'd bed, Hijacker slider hitch & Prodigy controller. Husky mats front & rear, Stainless 5" exhaust tip. Aluminum inter-cooler (not the cheap plastic one). Truxedo bed cover. Always garaged, towed the 5vr three times only, my wife drives it back and forth to work. 6K miles. 100% completely stock, never modded.

BTW - The Alpenlite would also being going for sale if & when we make the final decision to give up RV'ng.

Around here, with the price of Diesel hitting $3 again, the market is very soft. I would say between $25 to $27k if its really clean. There are several for sale in this area. You can almost pick your color. :( My 04. 5 was in MINT cond and I got $30k a few months back and then sold the 100k warranty back to D/C for $2500. I sold mine here on the TDR and the buyer really got a very nice showroom cond truck.

As a private seller this is what Kelly Blue Book says:

Condition Value

Excellent $33,210

(Selected)

Good $31,365

Fair $28,950

Go to Kelly Blue Book and be honest when typing in your information, I don't think your tonneau adds any value if it is a soft tonneau, a hard tonneau does add value. There are a few items that you listed that don't effect the value of your truck, the intercooler is one, the tonneau cover is two, and the exhaust tip is three, plus some of your options listed are part of a package so they do not increase the value on their own just because they are listed.

Having said that what I put into Kelly Blue Book you should be able to make a bit off of your truck in the 30,000 plus range. While you will defend the truck as cherry any buyer is going to see the hitch and think I need to get the price down so you may not be able to use the price listed as Excellent $33,210. You may have to settle for the price listed as Good $31,265 or if the market is soft at the moment maybe even the fair price of $28,950.

I used my zip code for these prices so your zip code may not bring in the prices shown in my area or your zip code may increase the value.

Just remember to list the condition of your truck the way the Kelly Blue Book has them broken down and you will get an honest value for your truck.

Its really tough to sell an "almost new" truck. The year end discounts for the 06 trucks are begining and someone may be able to find an 05 left over, new and still on the lot. Depreciation takes a huge hit the first few years.

Of course, that is why I bought my truck when it was 6 monts old. I let the first guy take the big hit on depreciation. I've made the committment to never buy new again. Over the years, I could have saved tons of $$$s buying nearly new instead of new.

Live and learn.

33k for a used truck?? I am sorry can't you buy a new one cheaper??? especially that combo. my next truck slt 4x4 I should be able to get into for around 32,500. Now with that said evey used lot that has diesels that are within 2yrs old always wants more than the truck would cost new, assuming of course you bought it right. I still think you will not loose much but I think 28k or so is more in the ballpark. I have ran the numbers and it doesn't pay to try to save money on buying a truck thats say 4 yrs old, my 02 is still worth at least 21k in my area, in 4 yrs and 90k miles its only went down 10k in value.

KBB is way high, they do not take into account the rebates and most dealers now selling at invoice and below. My buddy tried to sell his '04. 5 dually sport laramie 4X4 and could not get any interest at $30k. $33k is probably about what you could buy that truck for new in '05. Better off keeping it, selling within the first couple years you take a serious loss.
