'05 brake controller pigtail plug location

I have an '05 3500 with the factory tow package. I have the knee bolster off and am trying to install my brake smart. I can not find the factory receptacle for the wire harness anywhere. In the factory harness that came with the truck it says it is to the left of the column by the big bracket, no luck.



Any help is appreciated!

Mine was attached on the left side on a bracket. . Don't feel bad. I looked and looked and finally went back to the dealer and all of a sudden, it appeared.

It's there and I'm thinking it's got a blue connector on it.

Mine is a blue connector behind the parking brake peddle just above the huge white connector with the bolt in it. About a year ago there were some threads on this if this answer is "clear as mud. "

Mine was also on the left side and had a blue cover on it and I did not have to take anything apart to reach it just looked way under and there it was. Good Luck! Love my Brakesmart.

Thanks for the replies. they gave me some ideas.



I found my pigtail only after disengaging the wire block. Then I felt around behind it for a couple of minutes and yanked on some wires and bang, there it came. It is blue, but it was taped to the backside of the big white block with black tape. No way in heck you could find this by just looking around.



This turned about an easy 20 minute job into a 2 hour one!



I hope this will help someone else in the future





The brakesmart is a very easy install! I look forward to towing with it. I might be headed to SRQ next week and will give it a workout then.

Mine was in a slip in bracket. I couldn't get it loose and it was too close to the white connector to plug in the harness. Ended up snapping the ear off the pigtail while trying to plug in my controller. Thank goodness for cable ties. At least now I can disconnect without killing myself. I agree, a 15 minute job, took two hours.
