05 duelly with shudder?

I have a 05 drw with 38000 miles and it has a shudder or vibration ( #@$%! )when you are slowing down. There is no significant other vibration until I hit 68-70 . I took it to the dealer @ 35000 and he said the u joints were fine? I climbed under and i can rattle the rear driveshaft and hit the center plastic guide?. Is it normal to be able to do this? Thanks for replies.

i think you have a two piece drive shaft but not sure. if it does you probably have a bad carrier bearing. but no it is not normal for it to move like that

It is beginning to look like the dealer gave the shaft to you not checked your shaft

i have 05 dodge dually with same problem went to dealer replaced rear ujoint

because seperating from the cap. now have another bad ujoint not sure which one yet. look over all ujoint caps because some seperate and you can see a little rusting in them. i have 30000 on it now

I had to replace the ds in mine due to the slip joint failing in mine. Jacked the rear of the truk up and put it in first and looked under the truck. You could visably see the carrier bearing and slip joint "wobbling" while it was spinning. A trip to the dealer and 510. 00 later I had a new ds that I had to install.
