Hello, My name I Ryan and I'm new with TDR and have some questions for anyone out there. I have a new 05' 2500 4x4 QC SB w/ 6-speed and have only 2100 miles on it and got it about 4 weeks ago. I have been taking it easy for the first 3 weeks and then I kind of got on it a little the other day of the line and had some black smoke come out in every gear exept six and was wondering if this is normal this early on a new truck. My 2001 didn't start doing that until alot later. Also, to make a long story short it took 2 1/2 to 3 months to get my truck from the factory because I was told that chrysler is not putting their six speeds in them anymore and are going with a German made transmission and they were switching that around when my truck was built and apparently I'm one of the first ones to get one. Let me know if there is someone out there with one and what do you think of it? The reverse is in a different location then the old ones and I have some questions on when you go to change gears and let off on the clutch it sounds like the drive shaft knocks everytime but nothing is loose down there and I asked the dealer ship before I drove it off the lot when I bought it and they said everything checked out o. k. and tight and thats the way the new German transmission is. Let me know anything on these questions or any feedback and I will try to do the same for anyone out there also. Thanks Ryan In Indiana

Welcome to the TDR and congrats on the new truck. Please fill in your signature with the truck info so that we'll know more about it in the future. The transmission that you have is the G56 by MB (I can't spell it). Your truck is probably OK, but look for more informed comments from other members.

This to anyone. I was told to fill in my signature with my truck info but call me you know what, How do you do that. Thanks

I sorta thought the same thing with mine, but I was used to a 5600. I only have 550 miles so we'll see what happens. No smoke from mine as far as I can tell.

Andy

I have the same setup. No smoke. About 300 miles on the truck so far.

And I setup my signature just now so let's see if it works.....

My truck is an auto, but if I baby it for several days with no wide open throttle runs, I get alot more smoke when I finally do put my foot on it. If I jump on the throttle a few times a day I get very little smoke. I think what were both seeing is carbon in the exhaust system getting blown out. Try running your truck wot for a few runs over a short period of time and see if the smoke lessens the 2nd or 3rd time you make a hard run. Just my two pennies but I dont think you need to worry.

Bomb that baby!! :D

No smoke from mine yet only 178 miles goin easy on it but cant wait to get some miles and start to hammer down. Have done some accelerating and have not seen any smoke yet. :(

are you referring to the banging it makes if you push in the clutch when in R,1,2? mine does the same thing. i think it has something to do with the high torque it puts out. my buddies mustang does it, only not as loud.

Thanks everyone's help. Hercules, that is the same thing I'm Talking about and to everyone, mine didn't start smoking until after about 1500 miles on it.

Don't worry about it , thats normal under hard acceleration . My 05 does and my 99 did the same . Enjoy the truck .
