A friend has a bone stock o5 3/4 ton, auto trans. Wants to add an exhaust brake. Whats the best one? Any issues with the trans, torque converter for this year? Help is greatly appreciated.

Be careful you may loose your trans warranty with a exhaust brake on that year. He will have to buy a controller to lock up the torque converter. ATS , BD are ones I've seen. We all got screwed till 06 . The dealer may say its ok but when the trans goes they have to get approval thats were the rubber meets the road. I like the BD

The BD Brake has a stainless steel bushing for the valve which the others don't. It also regulates without a hole drilled into the valve. The regulation is adjustable and for the 05 can be run up to 65 lbs of back pressure. (I have one and use only 60 lbs for engine safety's sake. BD also supplies the aforementioned torque converter lock up required for the automatic trans. This can be run automatically or what I liked on my previous 2000 CTD was a three way switch that could better control lock-up. That is the good points of the BD. As with anything there are always bad points. In the case of the BD brake their air hose supplied is weak and I would suggest upgrading to avoid any air leaks. This isn't expensive to do (commercial 1/4" flexible hose) but it would seem to me that BD really went the cheep route here. Other than that I am very satisfied with the break. My previous exhaust brake was a banks vacuum driven. It worked great also.
