Traded my 97' 3500 for an 04' Quad.....

Good news on the G56 replacement clutches

My truck was the lucky one to beta test the 3600# dual disk clutch from South Bend. I have to say that the DM flywheel looks a whole lot better laying on the shop floor than on my truck. It's been in for about 6000mi with absolutely no complaints. At 3600# it has only slightly more pedal pressure than the stocker (with a '97 slave cyl. the factory one gave out on the second day, poor little fella). And before you ask no I didn't baby it either. Lets just say that I like it a whole lot better than my tires. (2wd and also a 4wd 3rd gear launch on dry pavement with 33" MT claws on 18" welds. Basically it seems to be a great pulling clutch and also very streetable.

So I guess we can assume Peter think's the G56 can handle a non DMF clutch? Still waiting on the teardown article. . hopefully it will be out soon.

it's very streetable, especially with the larger slave out of a '97 to ease the pedal a little more. My GF drives it and she weighs less than 100lbs with no complaints (about the clutch anyway :D ) It really doesn't drive much different than the stock one except for the gear rattle and no slipping at high power settings. Even pulls a trailer well, with no grabbing for easy starting.

you guys with DD's are killing me! I dont want to blow 2k on a new clutch, but with the streetable-ness, it is hard to resist

lucky!!!!!!!!

Tom,

It does hurt the 'streetable-ness' but if you want good holding power and if you want to sledpull its a must.

You already know this stuff.

But the rattle when the clutch is pushed in really separates the men from the boy trucks!! :D

I have no idea what the price would be since the DD for the g56 has a few added parts, you'd have to call. I was really impressed with the service from Peter at SBC.

Installed a SBCDD 3850# 12CB last week. So far I love it. Should have gone dual disk the first time. The FE I had was toast. Grooves in the flywheel and pressure plate, But still hanging in there. Just glad I changed before a major problem occured. The clutch does make a distinct sound when disengaged! But I can't get enough! Lee.

My 3600 lbs street version DD just came this week. Dang, that thing is heavy, now I feel bad making the 'lady' UPS driver carry it up my long long driveway by herself.

Can't wait to do the install.

He he...

I'm having the same thing installed Monday. I can't wait to turn up the TST and Ramifier and see what she's got!

Sorry to be off-topic, but looking in your sig line:

... . Marine pressure relief valve... .

What's the marine pressure relief valve and how is it different from the road version? Part #?

I'll jump on the off-topic bandwagon...

I believe the marine engine can come rated at up to 425hp. That must mean they run increased pressure, no?

So I've got a couple of questions:

Where's the "relief point" of the marine valve compared to ours?

Does the marine rail pressure sensor read higher than ours?

Or is the increased power gained through a different CP3 and more duration/bigger injectors.

I was told that the marine valve was designed to open and close without being worn. It wasn't really that much more so I figured I would try it out. I bought mine through John at Floor It diesel. Hope that was what you were looking for. Lee.

Can you give out the Part#?
