I know some of you have been down this road already... figured I'd post my dealings with this as well. When cold, 10-30 mph, I get a howl in the drive shaft. After a second trip to my dealer, the removed . 002" of back lash from the driveshaft. I was at a loose . 007". According to them, . 005" -. 007" is the spec. I drove out of the lot hoping it was a done deal... wrong, it started howling as before
So, back in I went... Long (painless so far) story, the Service department is ordering me a new pinion & ring gear assembly
in hopes that this will take care of the problem. I spoke with the mechanic about all this. He seems to be the type that has been turning wrenches for years and knows what he's doing... I felt even better when he said his daily driver is a 2nd gen 2500
Thus far the dealer/service department has been great in working on getting this fixed. So... . I'll wait and see what happens and will post the results. Also need to keep my eyes open for my Transferflow tank/toolbox coming in the end of the week Oo.
