I have the juice/attitude installed and when you are playing around with the power levels the 48re transmission just acts like it doesn't know what to do. Is this normal, (Funny shifts etc. ).

I had just the chip installed for a few days without the attitude and it seemed better then with the Attitude hooked up.

I had an Edge EZ installed on my 2003 Auto for 30k miles and it acted 100% differant/better then whats going on now with the 05. .

Any suggestion.

Thanks.

With the 48RE if you go wot with lvl 4 or 5 you will toast it in short order. What your feeling tells me your doing just that. The transmission has the biggest problem on the 3rd to OD shift. You've got basically two choices. 1) take it easy when you get to the that shift or 2) get a hd transmission. I ran mine hard probably 6 to 10 times and got to that shift point and it seemed to go into limbo for a second or two and then would shift. When they tore my transmission down the OD clutches were toast. That transmission is fine for a stock truck or one with a very mild box. You can run it for all its worth on lvl 3 on your Juice until such time you can upgrade your transmission or wait until it shifts into OD and then hammer it.

Thanks OT-OF-HERE

I'll start leaving it on level 3. . Yes I was playing with level 5 at WOT... I also notice at WOT when it reached 75mph it sat there for 5 seconds or more then it shifted into O. D. THEN the truck took off again. so it felt like major defueling there. Then when I checked the records the SLIP was at 2% , is that bad. . Is 2% enough to worry about or does it have to be higher. When I got 2% that was basically drag racing it on level 5...

thanks again.

I was seeing much more slip. I'd see 7% usually and I think I remember once seeing 10%. As I said, my OD clutches were toast as Tim Holt told me they would be. If your only seeing 2% then you may not have toasted them yet so the lvl 3 is a good decision until you upgrade your transmission. On that 3rd to OD thing though,... even after the ATS transmission I still had the delay to OD. It wasn't till I went with the Commander that I eliminated that totally. It's a slam shift now like a 1st to 2nd etc. Feels soooooo good.

cummins-man,

Have you had your computer reprogrammed for the larger tire size I see in your sig? The Juice/Attitude on my truck (48re) does not monitor the tranmission correctly. It does not detect correct Lock Up or slip properly. Edge told me that this is because I have had my computer reprogrammed by the dealer for the larger tire size. The Juice/Attitude can not see the "Pinion Factor" change in the computer and uses stock parameter values. This causes all of the monitoring, Lockup, Slip detection and defueling protection for the transmission to not work. Edge has acknowledged the problem and said they are looking for way to solve it. Just thought I would let you know.

I am trying to be very careful with my 48re until I get the TC/Transmission upgrades done. HOT Juice makes Level 5 very tempting. So far only did a couple of moderate acceleration tests on Level 5.

No I haven't had the dealers reprogram for larger tires. I have the Edge programmed for it but not the trucks computer. Are you getting any slipping

with the Hot Juice?

thanks

Then your trans monitoring should work as documented. I know I can make it slip a little from 100HP setting and up on any of the boxes. I have not tried hard on the 180HP setting. My Attitude will show 5% slip after any hard acceleration on 100hp+, problem is I can't trust the trans info on the Attitude at all. So for now I just have to be careful.

I have been trying to decide exactly what I need/want to do to the transmission for 6 months now. Performance shop specializing in performance transmission upgrades recommends TC/Valve Body/Input shaft/magic internal tricks/etc. at least. This is to support 550rwhp. Just havent quite decided what manufacturer parts and shop to use.
