05 LWB fuel tank capacity?

Does anybody know the real fuel tank capacity of the 05 LWB tank?

On one of the first fill ups it took 34. 8 gal and the overhead read 10 miles to go, the gage was still slightly above empty. this was a surprise as my 99 in this situation would only take about 32 gal and it was vented so I could see fuel in the filler. With the new truck I did trickle fuel in past the shut off point so it was a good fill. The manual states 8% reserve is left at the "0" reading on the overhead. Previous posts indicate around 38 to 40 gal, but they wre not 05's with the pump in the tank. Any info will help I may have a bad sender.

The 38-40 gallons you saw were people who had the tank vent kit installed, which allows extra fuel to be stored in the dead space at the top of the tank.



If I remember correctly the shortbed is 34; the longbed is 35.

Also the manual says when you are on empty, there is still 10% fuel left in your tank for safety.

That's what my owners guide says, 35 gal longbed and 34 gal shortbed.
