05 Muff Delete 2 weeks /then decided to Kill cat

I purchased a muffler from Rowells Inc. NC and when I saw it thought the truck would be loud. It has been excellent, sounds great and no problem at high speed or towing. Left the converter in place.

Why is there a drop in power and boost when the cat is removed ? I was told this was common by a long time mechanic on Cummins. I don't get it !

On my 99, I had it straight piped from the resonator back (4" exhaust) and it sounded great! People thought there was a 379 Pete rolling down the road Hope this hasn't been beat to death, but would be the best recommendation for a 3rd gen to sound like a logging truck with lots of turbo whistle? Last thing I want is for it to sound like a ricer w/a coffee can at the end

i hate the sound of those little ***** imports and with mine straight piped i don't think it sounds like one. My buddy heard me cummin down the street and said it sounded like a volkswagon beatle. Some people just really don't appreciate the beautiful sound of a straight piped cummins. Said thing is to that he is getting a degree in diesel mechanics. I think he went into the wrong field. Anywho i will continue to run straight piped no matter what people say it sounds like. It sounds good to me and thats all that matters to me.
