ive been needing to replace my Power distribution center (fuse box) on my 03

dealer wants bout $500

found an 05 2x4 AT for cheap will that work in my 03 4x4 MT other than the differences mentioned the trucks are the same

my dad has an 05 same as mine and it looks to be the same pdc

Depending on what went bad you may be able to bypass the trouble. I did for a trailer circuit on an 03 at considerable savings.

so how did ya fix it

and yes its the right tlr stop/turn that the 03/04s have trouble with

i already bought the pdc but i know there are others with the same issue

i have been affraid i may overload a circuit using a tlr wire kit mainly on a bigger tlr with lots of lights i already have a flatbed with too many

The one I fixed was not passing current to the trailer brake ckt.

When you stepped on the brake, power from the brake controller would make its way to the PDC but not pass through and back to the trailer plug.

What I did was wire the brake controller as if the vehicle did not have a trailer/tow package and picked up the trailer brake wire behind the front drivers inner fender.

This "cut-out" the faulty internals of the PDC from that ckt.

For your trouble of that single ckt I would think you could do something similar.

Install a relay with keyed power to it, trip the relay with the stop/turn signal going into the PDC and attach your right trailer stop/turn wire to the vehicles trailer ckt.

Basically all your doing is installing a relay in place of a failed one that is not accessible.

The only reason I went that route was because a replacement PDC was on national BO and we needed a fix quickly.

The WT/PK wire in the C1 (PDC) is the cricuit that is fried, the only way I know of is replace fuse # 47/48 with 10amp (PDC) to protect that circuit.

The (PDC) can be moved from Vehicle to Vehicle 03-05. the (FCM) needs to be compatible, you may move from vehicle to vehicle, But it is VIN programed, so you will get a VIN mismatch Soft code, no need to worry it won't effect operation.

i will swap in my 03s fcm(i hate any codes):)

thanks ive had the same brake controller trouble i had manual on the controller but no brakes off the pedal circuit

turned out to be the fuse labeled CHSML

i see what ya are saying never thought of a relay BUT

stop and turn are seperate circuits on the truck so that would require 2 diodes too.

i already have the pdc comming if it dont work ill tear in an come up with somthing just hate to if i can fix it for a fair$

thanks everybody for the help ill let ya know what happens in a couple days

I had the same problem with my trailer left turn / stop. Here is what I did to fix it.

Made a diagram of the locations of fuses and relays. Removed all relays and fuses.

Ground off the melted plastic pins that retain the cover to the base.

Seperated all the pieces including the printed circuit.

Located the three soldered relays (one for trailer tailights, one for left turn, one for right turn) Desoldered and removed relays. Located relay 85,86,30 & 87a terminal solder points

and soldered in 4 wire harness for each relay and ran three external bosch type relays.

Now you have access to these relays to test etc. Have been running this way for 2 years now. And saved me over $500. 00 Canadian

05 Part # 56051036AD AF 03 Part # 56045434AE, Need to be change also, I error, If you have auto you will need auto, swaping from auto/MT 03/05... . -03/04 AT/MT are the same , I live 2 minutes from Johns Auto they have the one you want. they are open until 4pm today.

sent ya a pm twest

ill go with johns i think or if not ill do a universal tlr wire kit with a relay for an easy fix

BUT

would rather have a good PDC

trying your method BUT

practicing on the 05 pdc i have and not having luck!!!

how do i desolder the relays?????? i have tried every iron i have including a 35Watt iron with no luck

Todd got your mess. thanks if i screw up i may need one of those pdc's:-laf

As I heated each individual connection with a soldering gun I blasted it with an air nozzle

when the solder was liquid. Leaves a nice clean hole to solder to once the relay is removed. Granted it takes a little finese but I'm sure you can handle it.
