Had a 2003 HO 6 speed with a single rear axle; it was an excellent truck. Only problem I had was with the alternator bracket recall. Anyway, decided I needed a dually due to rear axle capacity and now have a 2005 dually with the 6 speed. Have some questions.
1. Is the procedure to change the fuel filter the same as the 2003 since I understand that the fuel pump is in the tank on the 2005's and is a pusher rather than a puller like the 2003?
For anyone like me that had a 2003 and now has a 2005 (or that has knowledge).
2. Does the 2005 run hotter than the 2003? Mine seems to run about 10 degrees hotter and when pulling the trailer up a hill, it seems to get hotter than that.
3. Does the 2005 seem to blacken the oil a lot quicker than the 2003? The oil in my 2005 is dark almost immediately after an oil change.
4. My 2003 did not soot up the rear fender, the 2005 soots up the rear fender to a very noticeable extent. Is this a normal 2005 deal?
5. Is there a reflash for fuel economy on the 2005's. This one isn't broken in completely yet, but the fuel economy (even considering the extra weight) is disappointing.
6. For the 2003 rear axle, the bolt torque for the single rear axle cover was 30 ft. lbs. Is it the same for the 2005 dually rear axle cover?
Realize this appears to be asking the impossible, but what the heck, give it a shot.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
