I was backing my truck up the other day into my snow filled driveway in 2WD, when the truck had the slightest of sputters. It didn't seem to lose power, and it has done it before a couple of months earlier while not spinning the tires. It sometimes does it if I shift from Drive to reverse and lightly apply the accelerator while parking or something. I checked the codes and the only ones present are;

P0500 (M) No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal No vehicle speed sensor signal detected during road load conditions.

and the 1693 companion code.

I know the 0500 can be caused by the tires spinning, but after searching the site it seems that almost everytime someone experiences this code they have to replace their VP-44. I have not experienced any dead pedal while driving, and the lift pump was new 2000 miles ago. I tested the fuel pressure at the lift pump and the VP and both were good (15 psi idle and I believe it was 12 psi WOT)

I don't know if there's anything else I can do to test the VP, I know the electronics in these have a tendency to go, but is there any way to test it before it's too late. Thank you.
