hello, recently i fried a rear outer wheel bearing and destroying the hub on my dually. after ordering a new hub from dodge and all new bearings and races from orielly's, the inner bearings are wrong. the new bearings and races are much larger than my stock ones..but, this is the only ones that the parts store show to fit this truck..it is a 14 bolt rear like it should have, my question is, could the rear have been swapped from a newer model? or a single rear wheel truck? i thought the singles were totally different from duals.

Aftermarket auto parts stores don't always have the right info by application. Get the numbers off the old bearings and races, they can cross to their numbers.

Rookie parts people I would say.....

Using the Timken Catalog I come up with the following numbers....

3500 Dual Rear Wheel Outer bearing and race.....SET 38

3500 Dual Rear Wheel Inner bearing and race.....45291 / 45220

3500 Single Rear Wheel Outer bearing and race...SET 38

3500 Single Rear Wheel Inner bearing and race...28682 / 28622

Probably you have the inner combo for a SRW in your hand.......check my numbers to see..

A good parts man makes the mechanic. Sometimes the mechanic has to be both.

Or a good mechanic makes a good parts man. However, in defense of the O'rielly guy, I think their info is wrong. Mike's part #'s match Napa so I think they are right. The dimensions of the bearings don't match the O'Rielly dually numbers/dimensions, so I think they are suspect. They show a dually inner bearing ID of 2.50" while Mike and Napa both show dually and SRW to be 2.250". The race OD for the dually is 4.125 while the SRW is 3.84". The OP said the bearings in hand are too big for his application.

The O'Reilly catalogue may be showing inner bearings for the 4500/5500 series of trucks by mistake....

That leads back to the words I really hate to hear come out of a customer's mouth...

" Why do you need my Serial Number, they are all the same!"
