06 accessory wiring memo

I just stumbled across it. I need to download the body builder's manual, there might be some more pertinent information there.

To properly wire up your CHMSL on your cap, look under the rear of the truck on the drivers side just to the left of the spare tire. There is a white wire with a tan tracer that is taped up to the outside of the harness. This is the tap for the L50 CHMSL circuit (page 8W-51-6 in the 2006 service manual) straight off the brake lamp switch.

This tap is the proper place to wire in the CHMSL, or if you have one of the trailer hitch covers with the LED's.

Thanks for the info. When I find the wire you mentioned it solves one of the problems I'm facing with the new cap but I still need a feed for the courtesy light that doesn't involve a splice and still leaves the trailer connectors free.

Run a wire to the battery + terminal and put a fuse or circuit breaker close to the battery. That's how my topper supplier has done it for years.
