Brand new member, this is my first post here. I have a 06 ram with just over 33K on it now and at about 10K i noticed that my front and rear bumpers were starting to rust and pit from the back side. Went to my dealer and they did not want to replace them because they said they replaced 2 of them that were not as bad as mine were but then DC shipped them right back to them and said nothing was the matter with them so after that they have just clean them up. They suggested that they could wax and detailed them for me and that would fix the problem. I opted to leave them alone hoping that they would get worse and im getting near the 36K range and was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they have done about it. The front is pitting on the very top near the tow hooks and the rear is pitting on both bottom corners.

I'd make them replace them. If anything, get the paperwork rolling so they have a record of the issue and even after 36000 you should be covered because the problem occurred under warranty. That's the way it should be anyway.

These trucks are too expensive to put up with substandard workmanship on the part of the manufacturer!

BTW,

Welcome to the TDR :D

Tonight I was trying to install a MBRP muffler replacement kit ( with no luck)on my 06 Mega Cab and noticed the whole back side of the rear bumper is rusted. 7k on the ticker.

Sad you need to do it, but if you plan on keeping it for a while take the bumper off and spray the inside with rubberized undercoating. Its like $3 a can at any autoparts store. I do it with all my trucks since the rear bumper is a collection point for sand/salt here in the northeast.

It's pretty common, the backside of bumpers isn't protected. Just about all of my previous trucks (GMC, Dodge, Ford) all had surface rust on the inside of the bumpers. Didn't really bother me though, I only worried about the shiny side.

The reason I oil undercoat my truck twice a year... it ain't pretty, but wipe a coat of dirt/oil off and everything looks new... and comes apart.
