Competition NHRDA kicks off The 2014 season at Famoso Raceway

Buying '06 CTD Laramie, Quad, 4x4, auto, 4. 10 but not sure of which to get: electric or manual transfer case? Use is city and off-road, with KORE and 35's to follow. Any suggestions out there? Problems with the electric?

I'd go with the manual. TC is the same, only difference is whether the shift rod is driven by a servo or your hand. Your hand is more reliable. :-laf

You sure you can get a Laramie with a manual t-case? On my 04. 5 I couldn't. I always prefer a manual shifter, an F250 that I used to have confirmed that when several times I got stuck b/c it wouldn't go into 4 wheel anything. I never had any problems out of the 04. 5 though. If you're getting a manual trans... deffinately go for the manual t-case, what's one more lever down there?

Laramie "J" package is manual transfer case, "H" package is electric.

I'd go with the manual shifter. I have electric, but didn't have any choice on the package I wanted . I had a Chev with the electric 4wd control and it was a nightmare. They ended up buying it back under the lemon law. I just think the manual shifter is more dependable. I will admit though that this Dodge shifter has worked flawlessly since I bought the truck. There was a guy in another forum who got stranded in his new Dodge Mega because the electric shift motor went bad the first time he put it in 4lo. I can't remember all the details, but he was at a dump to get some busted up concrete and it left him high and dry 500 miles from home (he bought the truck in St Louis and lived in Houston). Then he got the ultimate insult, he had to get towed by a Furd towtruck.

It was pretty funny to read about, but he didn't sound too amused :-laf .

Good luck.

I would've preferred a manual shifter. Ended up with an electric. I've used 4wd about 5 times to date. No problem yet.

I don't mind the electric switch in my Megacab. It seems to work good I have used it several times. I am still partial to the manual shift levers in my other two trucks. I believe they are more dependable, but it is easier to turn the electric knob. My wife likes the electric better than the shift lever.

Once you go electric you wont go back
I did, I had electric in a Ford and my last 3 Rams have been manual.

My Ford was simple to use. . just a push button but in 100K it went through a couple motors.

I vote manual if you don't need the floor space, less to go wrong.

On the electric, the switch sends a command to a module which then operates the transfer case motor.

Any of you know if it is possible to change the electric shift to a maual system. I'm having problems with the electric switch.
