Who makes a good 3-5in lift?

Is this to much?

It's not the same. Some other person asked the same question a couple weeks ago. Do a search regarding an '06 dash... It's a little more involved...

I'll be removing my dash panel around Jan 27, 07 for dash pod/gauge installation.

I'll take some pictures and try and post the pictures.

I have the factory service manual on CD also. But I think I need to buy the tool to remove the clips. It's a learning experience for me.

What part of the dash are you wanting to remove? Or what are you wanting to install? I've removed most of the dash pieces on my '06 and can probably help... Eric

ENafziger,

Anything special to remove the dash piece closest to the windshield. I need to cut a hole in the dash and fish some wires through the hole for my gauges (dash pod) used.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Bob

Just a small prying tool will do... like a putty knife or icescraper, or something similar. You can kindof see where the clips are once you start prying up on the front of the dash piece. A firm pry in front of each of the clips will pop them loose... one at a time.

If you haven't seen it already, do a search on the 3-gauge dash install by "navydude". He has some good pics and shows where to drill the hole. --Eric

As close as I can recall:

a. Remove rubber cup holder and plastic sunglass bin.

Remove (3) ea 8mm hex screws on drive shaft hump (two on passenger side, one driver side) 5/16 6-point socket worked fine. Pull out this section.

(B, C and D may be out of order, easy to figure out when you get there)

b. Remove (2) more 8mm hex screws on drive shaft hump. These hold down the center console section that is under the center dash recess section. Pull out this section.

c. On Mega Cab (only) this also holds down the backseat AC duct. Duct will impede removal of center recess section. Simple slip joint. Slide out this duct.

d. Remove two black 7mm screws (also philips head). Drop the center recess section straight down. It's clipped in, just a good tug.

e. Remove two more 7mm/philips screws, one each pointing up under cig lighter and power socket. Hard to see but you can feel them with your fingers.

f. Starting on edge next to shifter, slowly snap out the center panel. The wood grain, or silver, panel does not come off, it is permanently attached to the center panel. There are eight or so spring clips that will be difficult at first, buy you should be able to ease out the panel with your fingers. Avoid using a screw driver. To remove the panel, pull the spring loaded shifter towards you for clearance.

f. You can hang the panel on the wires, or disconnect the harnesses. I left the harnesses connected and rested the panel on a towel to prevent scratches.

g. Radio is held in with (4) black 7mm/philips screws. Radio is clipped in but pops out with a good tug. Warning: The unique Dodge antenna plug on back of radio will pull apart if you are not careful. Be sure to grab the black plastic housing when removing!
