This poor fellow is haveing a time of it. I saw is add for help so here it is.

In 2006 I bought a brand new Dodge 2500 Diesel Crew Cab 4X4. After only 6 months of having this truck it started shutting off on rough roads. At first I thought it was nothing, but a month or two later it shut off again. I'm not four wheeling it or driving it recklessly. I'm doing what this truck was made to do. I didn't buy a brand new truck to only drive it in the city and have it look "pretty". I bought it to go hunting and fishing, in what I thought was supposed to be a reliable, durable truck.

August of 2007 was when it started getting really BAD. I was driving down a logging road after hunting and the truck shut off. I had no power brakes or steering and it wouldn't start up again. What stopped me was a dirt embankment, only 5 yards from where I stopped, the embankment ended and there was a cliff of at least a 200 foot drop. If my truck would have shut off just a few seconds latter, I would have ended up at the bottom of that cliff. It has shut off countless time since then but no real damage has ever been caused, because I have a brush guard on the front. But in late January, 3 of my friends and I were headed home from fishing along the Trask River and is shut off again. The road is well paved but has lots of sharp corners and a few pot holes. My truck would not start up again and this time we ended up going down the side of the road, through over-growth and small trees, heading straight for the river. What stopped us was a small tree about 7 inches in diameter. The tree was snapped in half but we were stopped and only 10 feet from entering the river.

I have brought my truck into 2 different Dodge dealerships for a total of around 13 times and no one can find anything wrong with it. The computer chip that my truck has in it records that nothing has gone wrong. Chrysler will not do anything about it because it does not meat Lemon Law requirements. Because they can not duplicate the problem. My warranties are up on the truck in only 1000 miles. Chrysler has also told me that I am the only person in the country, let alone in the history of Chrysler/Dodge to ever report a problem of this kind. If I trade in this truck i will be thousands of dollars upside down. If I keep this truck I will end up have to pay thousands of dollars in service and labor fees not to mention that if I were to ever seriously injure or kill someone I would be completely liable for the accident because there is no way to prove that the accident was caused by the trucks defect. I'm young and have worked very hard for what I have. If you or someone you know can HELP ME, or have experienced a problem similar to mine, please respond. I'm desperate for help!

I had a similiar problem with my 06. When I would take off from a start the truck would shift out of first into second then die. It asways started up again and wuold leave a p2609 code that would clear itself after the fifth or sixth start. The dealer put a knew ECM in it and I've not had a bit of troyble since. Good luck I hope this helps. .

Someone on another forum had a very similar problem. As it turned out, the ignition switch in his truck was shorting out, and the truck would die as quickly as if you turned the key off.

He had alot of keys on the keyring which probably contributed to accelerated wear in the switch, and evidently the shorting problem when bouncing around offroad.

Ask your dealer to make a template for their StarMobile that has all the battery and ignition start/run circuits in any module that gives that data. Then you drive the truck until it dies and hit the record button and see what they get. They can send the recording(s) to STAR for them to review if the technician can't read them.

If there are no codes it most likely is loosing the run circuit, as loosing run the controller(s) think you shut off the key.

I am passing the info on to the fellow. He doesn’t respond very fast.

skydiver;

Your right about why he couldn’t stop with or without the truck running? Don’t have a phone number to call to get better info.

I wonder if you can damage one of these keys with a chip so it would short out or any thing.
