My brother just added a new addition to his Dodge collection.

1500 4X4 Mega Cab Hemi Laramie "H" loaded.

The first thing I noticed was the eight lug full floater on the rear(I grabbed my hub cap puller from my truck while he was inside) and proceeded to pop one of the rear caps off and sure enough shes a floater ;). Do any of you know who makes this rear end?. The damn thing looks like a Dana .

It also has 265/70 17's load "E" tires on it NICE. Not to mention it has the same front axel as my 05.

Point is to this tread is how GM and Ford have droped the ball. How anyone could pass this little gem up( if you wanted a 1/2 ton gaser) and buy one from GM or Ferd .

The 1500 MegaCab does actually have a smaller rear axle than a 2500. I actually met a guy a few weeks ago at a stop light with one 4x4 hemi 1500. He wanted to race, so we did. Of course my diesel pulled about two-full Mega lengths on him. Then afterward we pulled over and talked. I could clearly see the axle was smaller than my 2500 axle, but it did have 8-lugs.

Maybe its the 10. 5 that they no longer use behind the CTD's

My 03 CTD had the 10. 5 but now it seems both 2500 & 3500's get the 11. 5's

GM had the 1500HD crew cab a couple years ago, it had 8 lug wheels, and all the 2500 stuff. GM does not make it anymore, people who generally buy 1500s do not want 8 lug wheels and stiffer suspension, Dodge would have been better to make a 1500 Mega with a 4' bed like GM and Ford have done with thier 1500 crew cab trucks, most likely the 1500 mega will not be a big seller.

I know of the GM 1500 crew cabs you mentioned, there's two in the parking lot at work. These trucks are a joke when compared to this new 1500 offered by Dodge.

The rear end is an 8 lug, only a semi floater and 9. 25" ring gear. ( this axel is actually the same as the 9. 25 found on 3rd gen 4X4's just spinning forward).

I agree with HO Brian it has to be at least 10. 5.

Mac

I agree completely. The Mega Cab will not fit in a normal garage, but my buddie's super crew fits just fine.
