Just curious where people are placing electric brake controller's on the 06's? Ordered my Prodigy on Ebay. Should be in tomorrow. Plan on towing this weekend. I was thinking of trying to use the useless space to the left of the stick. Not sure how deep the controller is compared to alloted space. Can't place the controller under the steering wheel. It would hit the wife's knees.

I put mine to the right of my knee, next to the center stack, if I remember I will shoot a pic for ya, looks like it would hit my wife's knee, she's 5-4 but it doesn't.

Mounted my Prodigy to the left of the steering column. My left hand don't do much when I drive. The wire loom had a straight shot to the my trailer package equipped plug. Was in such a hurry to get home and install, I didn't see the adapter plug right next to it in the store. 16 bucks and it would of pluged straight from control to truck. -------RJ

Are you saying the new ones don't come with the wire harness that connects to the plug under the dash? Guess I better keep the one from the 02 (that's already wired anyway :) )

The new trucks "do" come with the wire harness that connects to the plug under the dash, my wire harness/plug was sitting in the console at time of delivery.

Towrig,

In the event of a front end accident, that location under the dashboard is very dangerous. Part of the vehicle's built-in safety is the under-dash's ability to crush in a specific way to prevent injuries to the lower legs. By having that controller there, you risk far greater injuries to your knee or leg. I understand that this is where people have been placing these things for years, but I just wanted to inform you of some of the potential risks (if you weren't aware). Of course, ultimately it's your call on what risks you want to take. This is also mentioned in your owner's manual, I think.

I put mine to the left, under the parking brake release. Really bad idea. First time I parked on a good hill, stomped that brake down and realeased it, darn near broke my middle finger.

I have a Prodigy in the same place as TowRig. On the other side I have the gauge and valve/switch for air bags.

I was very concerned about having the brake controller in the way of the wife's knee's. I put it off to the right which leaves it very easy to reach in case of emergency.

Yeah, I read that in the manual, but there really wasn't a good location to mount it any where else, it (Ultima) also has a cable that conects to the brake pedal so need it somewhere in a direct line.
